Gretchen Johnson is a creative professional living and working in Los Angeles. She began her career studying Fashion Design in San Francisco at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
After she earned a degree in both Business and Fashion Design, Gretchen moved to Los Angeles and immediately worked with the women's design team at Guess? Her first 2 years at Guess she focused on soft woven tops and dresses, later she earned a promotion as the knit  dress + top designer for the women's Young & Contemporary Guess? design team.
In 2009, Gretchen gained experience as the Woven top designer for bebe. She earned several promotions at bebe overseeing and designing dresses, tops, sweaters, print + color and trend. Within five years, Gretchen became Design Director for 2b bebe & bebe Outlet Stores leading the vision and direction for 48 stores. It was here where she worked closely with the creative Director on set as the Lead Stylist for all editorial campaigns and e-commerce shoots.
In 2016, Gretchen started her own Full Service Apparel Design company, Unsupervised Los Angeles LLC. In her first 16 months designing private label tops, dresses, jumpsuits and bottoms she imported more than 60,000 units totaling $1.5 million in sales. 
In 2018, She became the sole designer of a special occasion dress line RYSE the Label who shipped to Lulu's, Harvey Nichols, Nisnass and Neiman Marcus. 
In 2019, while she worked with clients Tart Collections and Bailey 44, Gretchen also became Senior Designer for S by Serena clothing line based in New York. Her first collection for the brand debuted on the runway at New York Fashion Week in September 2019. After a successful first show, she was asked to design the Spring 2020 Collection that was shown in February 2020 at New York Fashion Week. Gretchen also collaborated on set with the Creative Director and brand to style all e-commerce shoots for all collections she designed.
In 2021, Gretchen pivoted as she navigated the global pandemic and zoom school from home. Her natural design sensibility and love for typography led her to create and design low content books. She self published her books and launched Unsupervised Press, which sold exclusively on Amazon.com
In 2023, She closed her design company and became Design Director for Trixxi Clothing.
